Day 6 Ramsgate to Brightlingsea 09/06/16

It was hustle and bustle around the harbour this morning with cafes and shop owners opening up. I was guided to the local chandlers to pick up a new gas bottle and when I arrived I felt like a child in a toy shop, an old fashioned chandlers packed with stuff. Pity I’m skint on unpaid leave!
With another sunny but wind less day we slipped Ramsgate at 1100, dressed in promotional uniform.

With flat seas and good visibility it was ideal conditions to navigate the tricky passage across the Thames Estuary. Pity we didn’t have just a few knots of wind.
After weaving our way around sand banks and huge merchant ships we arrived at the river Colne at 2130, too late to enter Brightlingsea due to tidal restrictions. We pushed on up the river Blackwater and picked up a bouy at 2220.
With possibly the most tricky navigational section of the trip negotiated it was time for some well earned shut eye.
Next stop Felixstowe.
