Day 13 Whitby to Hartlepool 16/06/16

We planned a late start today to give us a chance to see the town, promote Action for Children and catch a fair tide the 24 miles to Hartlepool.
Dressed in Action for Children tops we were hosted by Matt from the Pier Inn who kindly donated £50

We planned to slip from Whitby at 1600 so the dinghy was packed and Tikka prepared to slip. This was when I noticed that the Tikka’s Travels flag had been hoisted with no line to lower it. Although it was Danny’s birthday I’m afraid we run a strict ship and he had to face punishment. Dressed the part he was duely hoisted aloft to the fascination of crowds to recover the flags.

We eventually let him down and were under way.
With increased wind we managed to sail all the way to Hartlepool with reefed sails. Unfortunately this was another hard beat to windward crashing through growing waves to Danny’s delight and Tommy’s amazement.
Under a dark foggy night we entered the lock and were safely alongside by 0140.

I'm sailing around the UK with family and friends onboard our yacht, Tikka, to raise awareness and money for " Action for Children "
