Day 14 Maintenance in Hartlepool 17/06/16

I’m glad we arrived in Hartlepool in the early hours of Friday morning. The wind, as forecast, has picked up now with some very strong gusts.
Tom said his goodbyes this morning. It was great to sail and spend a week with him. I have known this man since I was 17 when I was a trainee coal miner, Tom was my supervisor back then and we have kept in touch over the years.

We had reports from people that AIS was not transmitting at times. On investigation we found a damaged cable and VHF aerial. We also found a leaking joint from the hot water tap in the heads, so today has been a busy day. By the end of Friday we had Tikka cleaned, washing done and leg 3 charts studied and ready to go. A temporary repair has been carried out to the cable and it seems to work but a trip to the chandlers will be required on Saturday and maybe a DIY store for a plumbing joint.

I'm sailing around the UK with family and friends onboard our yacht, Tikka, to raise awareness and money for " Action for Children "
