It was to be a short trip today. A mere 8 nautical miles but the destination was somewhere special, Loch Laxford, the home of the Ridgeways, a family that both Kaz and I have read about and have a lot of respect for. We have both read their book, “then we sailed away”.
I called Rebecca Ridgeway and made her aware that we would be sailing past her home and anchoring nearby. She was very welcoming and said she would look out for us.
Sailing in this area was truly amazing, mountains, wildlife and stunning scenery, Wow!
We sailed past the Ridgeway home with their yacht, English Rose VI standing regally on the slipway overlooking the Loch. We dropped anchor, inflated the dinghy and took turns to explore the area. On return, Rebecca and her little exciteable dog, Tinka came out to meet us. She was very interested in our story and took some flyers for their outdoor adventure centre and gave us some freshly laid eggs. Tinka was eager to explore Tikka and loved the attention from the crew.
With a calm sea in the shelter of Loch Laxford we retired to bed with just the sound of sea birds in an idyllic location.
