We gave Tikka a good deep cleaning this morning ready for the team joining for leg 6. Lou and Martin arrived first. Then I met Mike. Mike is a good friend of Stuart and a Grampian caver. A real gent and very kind man, Mike couldn’t do enough for us. He offered to do my washing, gave us lifts, fed us all and entertained us at his home. What a great guy.
Today was time to say goodbye to Rowan, Barry, Stuart and Danny. Danny has been my First Mate and right hand man for the last 4 weeks, sailing from Felixstowe. I hope he can join me again sailing soon.
I was sad to see leg 5 crew leave but very happy to meet Kaz and Harry at the station to rejoin Tikka for another week.
We spent the evening at Mike’s home, Rowan, Barry, Stuart, Danny, Kaz, Harry, Lou and Martin. A good hearty meal cooked by Mike followed by an Action for Children birthday cake made by Rowan’s children, Willow and Flynn.
We said our goodbyes and were back onboard Tikka at 2200. To our shock, the wind had increased to Force 8 so with all fenders adjusted, lines doubled up it was to be a bumpy night.
