We spent Tuesday, catching up on sleep, meeting up with friends and getting Tikka ready to sail again. We studied the charts, weather and pilot books and soon realised we would be waiting a while for the right conditions to negotiate Cape Cornwall and Land’s end.
The forecast was for North Westerly Force 5 -6 and moderate seas, not good in a small boat with novices onboard. We are also restricted to 2 hours either side of High Water to get out of Padstow harbour. The time to leave with favourable tide and weather was midnight Thursday. It was Kaz’s birthday, the sun was shining and with plenty of tourists in town this was a great opportunity to promote Action for Children. So we cleaned Tikka, hoisted the flags and set up a little promotional corner of the harbour with baloons, flyers and charity box.
